What to Do Right Now If You Suspect a Compromise
Speed matters, but panic doesn't help. Work through these responses in order: first contain the situation, then investigate, then recover.
Disconnect from the internet if you believe active unauthorized access is happening — this cuts off a remote attacker's connection. Then change passwords for your most sensitive accounts (email, banking, primary social accounts) from a different, trusted device if possible, since your compromised device may have a keylogger recording what you type.
